Erika Kirk, the wife of late conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, has spoken publicly about the emotional period following her husband’s death. She revealed that she prayed she was pregnant at the time of the incident.
Speaking in an interview with Megyn Kelly on SiriusXM, the 36 year old mother of two said she and her husband had always hoped to expand their family. The couple shared a three year old daughter and a one year old son, and had long expressed a desire to have four children.
“We wanted to have four,” she said during the interview. “And I was praying to God that I was pregnant when he got murdered. I felt like that would have been the ultimate blessing out of this catastrophe.”
Erika added that she often encourages younger couples not to delay starting a family if it is something they genuinely want. She noted that careers can be built over time, but family moments cannot be rewound.
Charlie Kirk, aged 31, was shot on September 10 during an appearance at Utah Valley University, where he was speaking as part of his American Comeback Tour. Former United States President Donald Trump announced his death publicly, describing him as “great” and “legendary.”
A suspect, 22 year old Tyler Robinson, was arrested a day later and has been charged with aggravated murder. Prosecutors have indicated that they intend to seek the death penalty in the case. A protective order has also been issued preventing the suspect from contacting Erika Kirk.
The incident has drawn national attention, with many expressing sympathy for the young family as they navigate an unexpected and devastating loss.
