Renowned gospel artist Dunsin Oyekan has expressed deep concern over the escalating violence targeted at Christian communities across Nigeria. His reaction follows two deadly attacks reported in Kwara and Borno states within a span of 24 hours.
The singer took to his official X account to decry what he described as “senseless and cruel killings,” urging the government to take decisive action to stop the growing insecurity.
According to reports, armed terrorists attacked a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State on Tuesday evening. Three worshippers were killed, while several others, including the church pastor, were abducted. The assault has sparked widespread outrage, particularly among religious communities.
The incident occurred just a day after suspected Boko Haram insurgents reportedly killed eight people in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State on Monday night, heightening fears over the renewed wave of violence.
Reacting to the Kwara attack, Oyekan described the incident as “extremely cruel” and questioned the government's handling of national security. He prayed for divine judgment on those responsible for the killings, citing Psalm 82 verses 1 to 8.
“May the Lord judge the enemies of this nation once and for all in this season. These killings are too much, senseless and cruel. Psalm 82 verses 1 to 8 is my prayer in this season. And we have a government abi” he wrote.
The latest attacks have intensified public frustration over Nigeria's worsening security situation. Social media platforms have been flooded with reactions from citizens calling for urgent government intervention to halt the recurring violence and protect vulnerable communities.
Religious leaders and advocacy groups have also renewed demands for stronger security measures, warning that the continued targeting of churches and rural communities poses a serious threat to national stability.
