Popular Nigerian disc jockey Kudi Gbemisola, widely known as DJ Kulet, has spoken candidly about the emotional trauma surrounding her failed marriage, describing it as the most painful experience of her life.
Speaking during an interview on Wasilacoded TV on Friday, October 31, 2025, DJ Kulet revealed that she ignored several warning signs and a friend’s repeated advice to call off the wedding.
According to her, a close friend named Joy had contacted her just days before the ceremony, urging her to cancel the wedding after experiencing recurring dreams that signaled trouble.
“Three days to my wedding, one of my friends called and told me she had a dream two different times warning me not to go ahead. She said I should put emotions aside and cancel the wedding,” Kulet recounted.“I said to myself, why should I cancel it? Who is she to tell me that? That was three or four days before the wedding.”
Despite the repeated warnings and her own feelings of unease, DJ Kulet said she went ahead with the ceremony, believing things would improve after marriage.
“I was seeing the red flags before the wedding, but I thought I could handle it after marriage. There was no peace or rest. My spirit was not settled,” she said, describing how she prioritized public opinion over her emotional well-being.
The entertainer disclosed that her marriage quickly became turbulent, leaving her emotionally drained.
Reflecting on the experience, DJ Kulet said the heartbreak from her failed marriage caused her deeper pain than any other hardship she had faced in life.
“I’ve been through tough experiences, but none hurt like that marriage. It was so painful to my soul. Yet, I’m grateful that I came out stronger and learned valuable lessons,” she said.
