Adeboye to Tinubu: Set 90-Day Deadline to End Terror Before Trump Acts

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address Nigeria’s worsening security situation with urgency, wisdom, and diplomatic tact, especially in light of recent threats of intervention reportedly made by former United States President Donald Trump.

Speaking after the November Holy Ghost Service of the church, themed The Eve of Glory, Pastor Adeboye emphasized the sanctity of human life and called on the Federal Government to issue a 90-day ultimatum to security chiefs to decisively eliminate terrorist groups or face immediate dismissal.

The respected cleric explained that he had given similar advice to the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari. He lamented that, although some progress was made at the time, the effort was not sustained long enough to secure lasting peace across the nation.

Adeboye also urged the government to identify and expose the sponsors of terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria, stressing that no individual, regardless of influence or political connection, should be spared from accountability.

He appealed to President Tinubu to engage diplomatically with the United States to negotiate a 100-day grace period before any international action is taken against Nigeria. He said this period should be used by the government to completely eradicate terrorism and restore national stability.

“In my usual quiet way, I have related with all the presidents who were around when this trouble started,” Adeboye said. “Whatever I discussed with them privately, I did my best behind the scenes. But you can only advise the Commander in Chief, you cannot command him.”

“If I were asked to make suggestions, I would say to our government, move fast, move diplomatically, move wisely. Find a way to convince the President of America to delay his actions for about one hundred days. Then come home and tell our security chiefs to get rid of these terrorists within ninety days or resign.”

“There was a president, unfortunately he is dead now, Buhari, who issued such an order. He is not here to tell you who gave him that advice. He acted on it but did not follow through. Three months passed and the work was not done. I asked him why he did not proceed, but I will not tell you the details.”

“My next advice is that when giving orders to the service chiefs, the President should make it clear that they must not only eliminate the terrorists but also their sponsors, no matter how powerful they are.”

Adeboye warned that Nigeria must act swiftly, both diplomatically and strategically, to avoid possible external intervention.

“When I say our leaders should move fast, diplomatically, and wisely, it is because if America attacks us, China, Russia, and other world powers will condemn it strongly, but that is all they will do. Britain will not come to help us. No foreign power will,” he said.

“This is not the time for jokes, grammar, or arguments. It is not about Christians or Muslims. Innocent people are dying,” he warned.
