9-Year-Old Girl Dies After Falling From Fourth Floor of Jaipur School, Family Alleges Negligence and Harassment

Jaipur, Nov 1: A tragic incident at a private school in Jaipur has sparked outrage and calls for accountability after a nine-year-old girl, identified as Amaira, died on Saturday afternoon following a fall from the fourth floor of the school building.

According to police reports, the incident took place at Neerja Modi School, located under the Mansarovar police station limits. CCTV footage from the premises reportedly shows the Class 4 student climbing a railing on the fourth floor before falling. Other students can be seen nearby, appearing unaware of the tragedy about to occur.

Amaira was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. The fall proved fatal, and initial investigations suggest suicide, though authorities have said that the exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

Mansarovar Station House Officer Lakhan Khatana confirmed the incident and said police have started an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding it. “The preliminary findings suggest that the girl climbed over the railing on her own. However, we are investigating all possible angles, including negligence, harassment, or any external pressure,” the officer said.

The victim’s parents have alleged foul play and registered a First Information Report against the school administration, accusing them of negligence and possible harassment. They questioned how such an incident could take place inside a well-guarded and supervised campus.

The family also claimed that when police reached the spot, the area where Amaira had fallen had already been cleaned, and no visible bloodstains or evidence remained. They said this raises serious doubts about the school’s intentions and the way the situation was handled.

“We want to know why the area was cleaned before the police arrived and why no teachers or staff members came forward to explain what happened,” said a relative of the girl.

Amaira was the only child of her parents, residents of the SFS area in Jaipur. Her mother works at a bank, and her father is employed in a private company. The grieving parents filed the report nearly six hours after the incident, once postmortem formalities were completed.

The school administration has not issued an official statement about the incident. Officials from the education department have alleged that the school did not cooperate adequately with authorities after the tragedy.

District Education Officer Ram Niwas Sharma said attempts to contact the school’s principal, Indu Dave, were unsuccessful. “The school completely disregarded the education department. The representative of the principal did not even respond to our calls,” Sharma said.

The education department has sought a detailed report from the school management and directed officials to examine whether safety guidelines and child protection measures were properly followed.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage, speaking to teachers and students, and examining the school’s security arrangements. Investigators are also waiting for the postmortem and forensic reports to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of bullying or harassment. Teachers and staff members who were present at the time are expected to be questioned.

“We are taking this matter very seriously. The investigation will determine if there was negligence or any other contributing factor. Legal action will be taken based on the findings,” SHO Khatana said.

The incident has once again raised concern about student safety and mental health support in schools. Parents and child rights groups have called for a transparent investigation and stricter enforcement of safety standards within school premises.

Education officials have emphasized the need for continuous supervision in areas such as terraces, staircases, and balconies. Mental health professionals have urged schools to provide open communication channels for students who may be facing stress, bullying, or emotional distress.

As the investigation continues, the death of young Amaira has left her family, classmates, and the Jaipur community in deep shock. Authorities have assured that justice will be pursued and that responsibility will be fixed once all facts are established.
