A 22-year-old woman, identified as Uche Chukwurah, has been reported abducted after boarding a commercial tricycle, commonly known as keke, around the Ibusa Junction area of Asaba.
Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu disclosed the incident in a Facebook post on Thursday, raising public concern over rising cases of abduction in Delta State.
According to Gwamnishu, Uche was last seen on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, on her way home from work. Her abductors reportedly contacted her family later that night and demanded a ransom for her release.
“That same night, her abductors contacted the family, demanding a ransom. Uche is still being held captive, as her father cannot afford the amount they are asking for,” Gwamnishu wrote.
As of the time of this report, Uche remains in captivity. Efforts by security agencies and community members to locate her are ongoing.
The case has drawn widespread attention online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the increasing number of kidnappings across the country.
The incident comes shortly after the release of Aisha Wahab, who was abducted in Auchi, Edo State, and freed after her family reportedly paid a ₦20 million ransom following two weeks in captivity.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on Uche Chukwurah’s abduction.
