Nigerian rapper Temidayo Omoniyi, popularly known as Zlatan Ibile, has opened up about his financial struggles as an upcoming artist during his time at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Zanku crooner revealed that despite winning the Airtel One Mic Talent Show in 2014, he still faced financial difficulties and had to use the car he won from the competition as a means of survival.
In a recent interview with popular streamer Shank Comics, Zlatan shared that he resorted to using the car for transport business at night to support his education and feeding.
“Back in school, when there was no money for food, I would just wait till night and use the car I won from the Airtel One Mic Talent show to run cab from Abeokuta to Shagamu for ₦350,” he recalled.
Zlatan, who was only 19 years old when he won the talent show, said that period taught him resilience and humility as he chased his musical dreams.
His major breakthrough came three years later in 2017 after he featured renowned rapper Olamide on his hit track “My Body.” Zlatan has since credited that collaboration as the turning point of his career, describing Olamide’s contribution as “life-changing.”
Today, Zlatan stands as one of Nigeria’s most successful street-hop artists, leading Zanku Records and mentoring emerging talents in the music scene.
