Media personality Destiny Ezeyin, popularly known as Radiogad, has sparked controversy after openly criticizing reality TV star and former Big Brother Naija winner Mercy Eke over her recent birthday celebrations.
On her birthday, Mercy shared a video on social media where she was seen popping champagne in front of a large building, claiming it was her third house acquisition. In the clip, the BBNaija star proudly referred to herself as a “landlady in Ikoyi,” a move that quickly went viral among her fans.
However, Radiogad has disputed her claims, insisting that Mercy did not purchase the property but instead rented an apartment within the building. Speaking in a viral post, he alleged that a neighbor had confirmed she was simply another tenant and not the building’s owner.
“You didn’t buy a house, you rented a flat,” Radiogad stated, accusing Mercy of misleading her followers. He further described her as living a “fake life,” adding that she has a habit of announcing supposed house purchases “every other week” to maintain a certain image.
According to Radiogad, such actions could create unrealistic pressure on young women who look up to Mercy as a role model, encouraging them to chase unsustainable lifestyles.
The criticism comes shortly after Mercy Eke drew attention with another set of birthday posts, including a risqué-themed photo shoot and videos flaunting stacks of dollar bills during a luxury vacation at her dream destination.
So far, Mercy has not directly responded to Radiogad’s claims, but the exchange has stirred heated debate across social media. While some fans rushed to defend her, praising her success and right to celebrate as she chooses, others echoed Radiogad’s concerns about celebrity culture and the pressures it creates.
The controversy adds to a long list of public debates surrounding Mercy Eke’s lifestyle, brand image, and the blurred lines between genuine achievement and social media optics.
