Hollywood actor and R&B singer Tyrese Gibson has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after one of his Cane Corso dogs allegedly mauled a neighbour’s pet to death in Atlanta.
The 46-year-old star — best known for his role as Roman Pearce in the Fast & Furious franchise — turned himself in early Friday, October 4, at the Fulton County Jail. He was officially booked around 6 a.m. and later released on a $20,000 bond.
According to police, the incident occurred on September 18 in the upscale Buckhead area while Tyrese was reportedly away from home. A neighbour’s Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was said to have been fatally attacked by one of Tyrese’s four Cane Corsos.
Authorities also revealed that the actor had been previously warned multiple times about letting his dogs roam off-leash. Following the tragic attack, Tyrese rehomed all four dogs and, through his attorney, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased pet.
His lawyer confirmed that Tyrese is fully cooperating with investigators and intends to continue doing so until the case is resolved. However, police insist that the actor’s negligence directly contributed to the death of the smaller dog.
Captain Nicole Dwyer of the Fulton County Animal Services also confirmed that all four of Tyrese’s dogs will be handed over to authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.
The arrest has stirred mixed reactions online, with many fans expressing shock over the development. The news comes just weeks after Tyrese publicly discussed taking a “mental health break” and spending time in Dubai for personal reflection.
As of now, the singer-turned-actor has not personally addressed the allegations or commented on his arrest.
