U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed that American music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs recently reached out to him seeking a presidential pardon following his conviction on two prostitution-related charges.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Monday, October 6, Trump said Diddy personally made the request.
“A lot of people have asked me for pardons,” Trump stated. “I call him Puff Daddy; he has asked me for a pardon.”
Combs’ representatives have yet to comment on the development.
Last Friday, October 3, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced the 54-year-old rapper and entrepreneur to 50 months in prison after he was found guilty on the prostitution-related counts in his federal sex-crimes case.
Combs has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest in September 2024. With time served, he could be eligible for release in under three years.
His lawyers, speaking to ABC News, said they are considering an appeal, arguing that the judge imposed an excessively harsh sentence.
“The jury made it very clear in their verdict that they acquitted him of the sex trafficking and RICO counts,” lead attorney Teny Geragos said. “Not guilty means not guilty.”
Combs’ legal team has also asked that he be transferred to FCI Fort Dix — a low-security federal prison in New Jersey — where he could participate in the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP).
“In order to address drug abuse issues and to maximize family visitation and rehabilitation efforts, we request that Mr. Combs be placed at FCI Fort Dix,” Geragos wrote in a letter to the court.
The Bureau of Prisons is expected to review the request in the coming weeks.
