The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of two teenagers who drowned while swimming in a stream at Hayin Yawa Gada, Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano State.
According to a statement released by the Service’s spokesperson, Saminu Yusif, the tragic incident occurred on Thursday, October 9, 2025, around 2:00 p.m. The Fire Service received a distress call from the Hisbah Command reporting that two boys had gone missing in the stream.
Rescue officials from the Tudun Wada Fire Station arrived swiftly but found the victims identified as Habu Sani and Haruna Isah, both aged 15 unconscious. Sadly, they were later confirmed dead. Their remains were handed over to Inspector Usaini Iliya of the Tudun Wada Police Division for further investigation.
In a separate incident, the Fire Service also reported the recovery of another unidentified body from a well at Jaba Masaka, Shago Tara area, on Friday, October 10, 2025, at about 8:15 a.m. Eyewitnesses said the body had been in the well for about four days before discovery. The remains were handed over to the Ward Head of the area, Ado Idris.
Speaking on the incidents, the Fire Service Director, Alhaji Sani Anas, expressed condolences to the affected families and urged parents to caution their children against swimming in open water bodies, especially during the rainy season, when currents are strong and unpredictable.
