Shock and grief have gripped the media community following the tragic death of Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a presenter with ARISE News, who lost her life during a robbery attack at her residence in Katampe, Abuja.
The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m., when heavily armed robbers stormed the estate, overpowering security guards and raiding several apartments. According to reports, valuables including vehicles and laptops were stolen.
In an emotional account shared by a resident identified as Tijani, the robbers moved from flat to flat, forcing residents to surrender their belongings. Those who cooperated were reportedly spared from physical harm.
However, when the armed men stormed Somtochukwu’s apartment, panic took over. In fear, she rushed to her balcony and tragically jumped from the third floor. The fall claimed her life instantly.
Shockingly, Tijani revealed that the robbers had even tried to calm her down:
“They were even begging the lady not to jump… The police came just two or three minutes after those people left,” he recounted in a video shared by Trust TV.
Sadly, the police reportedly arrived only 2–3 minutes after the attackers fled, by which time the promising young journalist’s life had already been cut short.
