Heartbreaking news has emerged from Mexico as 17-year-old Arturo Gatti Jr., the son of late boxing legend Arturo “Thunder” Gatti, has reportedly been found dead in his apartment.
The tragic announcement was made by American actor, boxer, and motorcycle enthusiast Chuck Zito via an emotional Instagram post on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. According to Zito’s post, the teenager was discovered hanging in an apartment in Mexico on October 7, 2025.
In his post, Zito expressed deep sorrow over the incident, noting the haunting similarity between the death of Arturo Gatti Jr. and that of his father, Arturo Gatti Sr., who also died by hanging 16 years ago in Brazil.
“It’s with a heavy heart that I’ve to say R.I.P to 17-year-old Arturo Gatti Jr., who was found hanging in an apartment in Mexico yesterday. The same way they found his father dead in an apartment in Brazil 16 years ago. My condolences to Arturo Gatti Sr.’s mom, sisters, and his daughter, Sophie,” Zito wrote.
Arturo Gatti Sr. was one of boxing’s most beloved and fearless fighters, known for his thrilling battles inside the ring and his never-give-up spirit. His death on July 11, 2009, at just 37 years old, shocked the sports world. Although it was officially ruled as a suicide, questions and controversies have surrounded the circumstances for years.
The loss of his teenage son now adds another painful chapter to an already tragic family story.
Authorities in Mexico have yet to release an official statement regarding the circumstances surrounding Gatti Jr.’s death. Fans and fellow boxers have taken to social media to express their condolences and share memories of the Gatti family, honoring their legacy in the boxing community.
Our deepest condolences go out to the Gatti family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
