Nollywood actress and philanthropist, Tonto Dikeh, has opened up about her past relationship, admitting that she was misled by lies and the illusion of love.
In a heartfelt post on her Facebook page, Dikeh revealed that she once believed she was building a future with a caring partner, only to later discover that much of what she thought was real had been fabricated.
“When I look back, I see how blind love made me,” she wrote.
“I thought I was building a future with someone who cared. But I was only building lies.”
The actress disclosed that many of the luxury items she once flaunted publicly—including jewelry, a car, and other expensive gifts—were not from the man people assumed, but from a relationship before him.
She also recounted a painful incident during her pregnancy in the United States. At the time, her partner had claimed to buy her a car, which she happily shared online. Later, however, she discovered the car was not registered in either of their names.
“That day, I realised something was deeply wrong. I saw how fake everything was. He was never giving. He only used appearances to make himself look better,” she said.
According to Dikeh, the experience marked a turning point in her life, as she began to see through the façade of the relationship.
The mother of one, who has often spoken openly about resilience and personal struggles, said her story should serve as a reminder for women not to be blinded by illusions of love.
