TikTok Star Emman Atienza Dies at 19 After Reported Struggles With Mental Health

Emman Atienza

Los Angeles, California —
Filipino social media personality Emman Atienza, daughter of television host Kuya Kim Atienza and fitness expert Felicia Atienza, has died at the age of 19.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Atienza passed away at her home on October 22, with the cause of death listed as suicide.

Her parents confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement shared on Instagram on Friday, October 24, writing:

“It’s with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our daughter and sister, Emman. She brought so much joy, laughter, and love into our lives and into the lives of everyone who knew her.”

The family’s message also acknowledged Atienza’s openness about her mental health challenges, noting that her vulnerability inspired many of her followers.

“Emman had a way of making people feel seen and heard, and she wasn’t afraid to share her own journey with mental health. Her authenticity helped so many feel less alone,” the statement read.

They asked the public to honor her memory by living with compassion, courage, and kindness — values the young influencer embodied throughout her short life.

Atienza rose to fame through her TikTok and Instagram accounts, where she amassed over 875,000 TikTok followers and 225,000 Instagram followers. Her content often showcased her daily lifestyle, fashion, and reflections on personal growth and mental health.

In November 2024, she faced public backlash after posting a TikTok video in which she and friends played a “guess the bill” game at a Japanese restaurant. The meal reportedly cost ₱133,000 (about $2,268) — sparking outrage in the Philippines, where average monthly wages are much lower.

Following the incident, Atienza deleted the video, took a break from social media, and clarified that her family’s wealth did not stem from political ties. She later relocated to Los Angeles, where she continued sharing her life and healing journey.

Her final TikTok video, posted on Wednesday, featured joyful moments with friends — hiking, rock climbing, and celebrating Halloween — showing a glimpse of her happiness in recent days.

Emman Atienza’s passing has prompted an outpouring of grief online, with fans and fellow influencers mourning her loss and celebrating her legacy as a voice for mental health awareness.
