A Spanish travel influencer and her husband have shared the horrifying details of a violent attack they suffered while traveling through eastern India an ordeal they described as “three hours of hell.”
According to a report on Saturday, October 18, 2025, Vicente, aged 63, and his wife Fernanda Gonzalez, aged 28, were exploring the world on motorbikes and documenting their adventures for their 300,000 Instagram followers when tragedy struck in Jharkhand State, India.
The incident reportedly occurred in 2024 in Dumka District, near the couple’s campsite as they rested for the night on their way to Nepal. What began as another leg of their global road trip quickly turned into a nightmare.
Vicente and Fernanda said a group of seven men discovered their tent after dark. The attackers allegedly tied Vicente up, beat him severely, and subjected his wife to a violent assault. “They put a knife to my neck and told me they were going to kill me,” Vicente said in a video recorded outside a local hospital, visibly shaken and injured.
He said the assault lasted for about three hours, from around 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., describing the experience as “something I will never forget.” Vicente recalled being struck repeatedly with helmets and stones while restrained. “I thought Fernanda was dead,” he said. “But when I found her alive in the bushes later, I felt a joy I can’t describe.”
Fernanda later shared photos and updates with her followers on Instagram, showing her bruised and swollen face. In one emotional caption, she wrote:
“Something has happened to us that we would not wish on anyone. They beat us and robbed us, but what they really wanted was to hurt me. My face looks like this, but it’s not what hurts me the most. Thank God we are alive.”
Before the attack, the couple said they had encountered two of the suspects earlier that same day. One man had approached Fernanda and taken peanuts from her without permission. Believing the area to be calm and safe, they returned later to set up camp for the night a decision that ended in devastating consequences.
Local authorities quickly launched an investigation following the report. Senior Police Officer Pitamber Singh Kherwar confirmed that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the attack, while efforts to capture the remaining men were ongoing.
Dumka Deputy Commissioner Anjaneyulu Dodde stated that the couple received one million rupees in compensation and assured that the police were conducting a thorough investigation to ensure justice was served swiftly. “We are determined to bring all those responsible to book and to prevent such incidents from recurring,” Dodde said.
Following the assault, the couple were given medical treatment, placed under police protection, and later returned to Spain. They expressed deep gratitude for the support received from Indian authorities, medical workers, and their followers around the world.
Despite the trauma, Vicente and Fernanda say they remain determined to continue their global journey once they have fully recovered. “We will rest and stay with our family,” Vicente said. “When Fernanda is ready, we will continue our tour of Asia and finish in New Zealand. We won’t let fear destroy our dreams.”
