There was chaos at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Sunday after two sisters engaged in a shocking fight over a missed United Airlines flight.
Eyewitnesses said the siblings arrived late for their trip, only to discover that boarding had already closed. What started as a heated exchange of words soon turned physical, as the two began throwing punches and yelling at each other right in the departure hall.
Passengers and airport staff watched in disbelief as the scene escalated bags flying, insults echoing, and attempts to separate them proving difficult.
In the midst of the chaos, one of the sisters reportedly collapsed and fainted, sparking panic among onlookers. Security officers from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) rushed to intervene and moved them to an office, but the fight reportedly resumed even there.
An ambulance was later called to take the unconscious sister to the FAAN clinic. According to witnesses, her sibling initially refused medical help, claiming that the issue was “spiritual.”
Confirming the incident, aviation spokesperson Michael Achimugu said the sisters, aged 23 and 31, were eventually handed over to the police after continuing their scuffle even at the clinic.
“The elder sister fainted but resumed fighting her sibling after regaining consciousness,” Achimugu revealed.
He added that one of the women remains under medical observation while both are now in police custody.
