In what could mark the end of one of Nigerian music’s most talked-about rivalries, singer Seyi Shay has expressed her willingness to reconcile with fellow artist Tiwa Savage after years of public tension.
In a recent interview, Seyi Shay reflected candidly on their fallout — a feud that reached its peak in 2021 after a viral altercation at a Lagos salon and a series of diss tracks that fueled speculation of deep animosity between the two.
The Right Now crooner, however, now says she’s ready to move forward. “That period was purely a brand decision, not a personal one,” Seyi Shay clarified, referencing the long-rumored Pepsi campaign that many believed sparked friction between them. “I have never had any reason to celebrate another woman’s challenge or misfortune. I respect Tiwa’s journey deeply.”
She went on to describe their past dispute as a product of industry pressure and miscommunication, noting that both artists were navigating an intensely competitive environment at the time.
“We were both under pressure and navigating a very competitive industry,” she explained. “If I could go back, I would choose communication over confrontation.”
When asked directly if she would be open to reconciliation, Seyi Shay didn’t hesitate.
“Yes, I would,” she affirmed. “Life is too short for lingering tension. If having that conversation helps heal narratives and sets a better example for women in music, I’m open to it — whether privately or publicly.”
Her comments have since sparked conversation among fans, many of whom have long hoped the two powerhouse vocalists would put their differences aside.
If a reunion between Seyi Shay and Tiwa Savage does happen, it could mark a powerful moment for women in the Nigerian entertainment industry — one built on grace, maturity, and mutual respect.
