Selena Gomez Opens Up About Her Emotional Struggles After Marrying Benny Blanco

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez
is getting candid about her mindset following one of the happiest moments of her life — her wedding to music producer Benny Blanco.

Speaking at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women conference on October 15, the Only Murders in the Building star revealed that despite her joy, she was overcome with unexpected emotions shortly after tying the knot.

“I got married and then I was sobbing,” Selena shared. “’Cause I was like, ‘I’m gonna die the next day.’”

The 33-year-old explained that she often struggles to fully enjoy “wonderful” things because her mind immediately drifts to what could go wrong.

“When something great happens, I expect something bad to follow,” she admitted. “So instead of being present and saying, ‘Wow, we’ve done a great thing,’ I start thinking, ‘This could all go away tomorrow. How can I make sure it doesn’t?’”

Selena and Benny tied the knot on September 27 in a private ceremony in California surrounded by loved ones. Days later, the Rare Beauty founder reflected on her “joyful moment” in a heartfelt Instagram message to her fans.

“As I step into one of the most special seasons of my life, I can’t help but think of you — my incredible friends who have been with me through every twist and chapter,” she wrote on October 2. “Your love and support have meant more to me than I could ever truly put into words.”

Despite her fears, Selena has continued to look toward the future with hope. Recently, she hinted at her dream of becoming a mother someday — a topic she’s been open about given her health challenges.

“Alex Russo is a mommy,” Selena captioned an Instagram clip from Wizards Beyond Waverly Place on October 9, referencing her beloved Disney Channel character. “Hopefully one day that’ll be me.”

Selena’s honesty about her emotional growth and self-awareness continues to resonate with fans, reminding them that even in moments of joy, vulnerability and healing can coexist.
