Nollywood actress and producer Rita Daniels has opened up about her initial opposition to her daughter Regina Daniels’ marriage to billionaire politician Ned Nwoko, revealing that she never approved of the union at first.
In a viral video making the rounds on social media, Rita disclosed that she was strongly against the idea of her then 18-year-old daughter marrying a 60-year-old man. Despite her concerns, Regina insisted on going ahead with the relationship and eventually tied the knot with the politician.
“When Regina got married and the whole world blamed me, saying I forced her to marry a much older man or sold her to an elderly man… what they didn’t know is that even I didn’t know when they started their relationship,” Rita said.
She explained that she was, in fact, the last person to find out about the relationship and confronted Regina after hearing the news. However, to her surprise, her daughter reacted defiantly and spoke to her in a way she had never done before.
Rita noted that while she did not support the marriage initially, she later decided to stand by Regina as a mother and offer her guidance through the situation.
“As a mother, I had no choice but to support my daughter and give her the best advice I could,” she said.
The actress added that the public backlash she received at the time was painful, as many accused her of arranging or benefiting from the marriage, which she insists was not the case.
Rita’s revelation comes amid renewed public interest in Regina Daniels’ marriage following recent reports of alleged marital tension between the actress and her husband.
