Police Nab Man for Allegedly Killing His Wife in Edo State

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a middle-aged man, identified simply as TJ, for allegedly killing his wife, Queen, in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

According to reports, the tragic incident occurred shortly after the couple had celebrated the birthday of their two-year-old son. Residents of the area were shocked by the news, describing the family as peaceful and loving before the incident.

Eyewitnesses said the suspect allegedly attacked his wife with an axe during the night and fled the scene immediately after committing the act.

A resident, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on condition of anonymity, recounted how the incident was discovered the following morning.

“There was no sign of a quarrel between them. We all went to bed that night thinking everything was fine. But by morning, neighbours didn’t see them come out and assumed they were still asleep,” the source said.

The horrifying discovery was made when the couple’s little boy came out of the room with bloodstains on his body.

“When people saw the stains and noticed the child wasn’t injured, they rushed into the room and found the woman lying lifeless in a pool of blood, her throat slit,” the witness added.

Panic spread through the neighborhood as residents alerted the authorities. The husband, TJ, was nowhere to be found at the time, prompting immediate suspicion that he had fled after the gruesome act.

The case was quickly reported to the Auchi Police Division, which launched a manhunt for the suspect. Following coordinated efforts, police operatives successfully tracked and arrested him.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, Chief Superintendent of Police Moses Yamu, said the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Benin City for further investigation.

“The suspect has been apprehended and moved to the State CID for proper investigation,” CSP Yamu stated. “The command is committed to ensuring that justice is served in this case.”
