The Yobe State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the discovery of the lifeless body of a 45-year-old woman found close to the Federal University, Gashua (FUG), in Bade Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement released today, October 18, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the deceased has been identified as Falmata Abubakar, a resident of Abasha, Sarkin Hausawa Ward in Gashua.
The discovery was first reported by one Yusuf Sarkin Baka, a resident of Sabon Daula Ward, who alerted the police after spotting the body near the fence of the university. Upon receiving the report, a team of police operatives from the Gashua Division immediately visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.
Police say the deceased was found dressed in a black hijab. Her body was evacuated to the Specialist Hospital in Gashua, where a medical doctor confirmed her death. Following an autopsy, the body was released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
