An old video of popular clergyman, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has resurfaced online following the tragic death of Arise News presenter and anchor, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, who passed away on September 29, 2025, after an armed robbery attack at her Abuja residence.

In a prophecy released on December 20, 2024, Primate Ayodele had called for prayers over journalists, warning of looming dangers. He specifically urged Arise News reporters to exercise caution, particularly when reporting on political matters.

“Let’s pray for them because life only has one. They should reduce that attack that is coming from Arise News. You are there to broadcast the news but not to challenge people,” Ayodele had said.

The clergyman further cautioned that there were people outside the studio who could pose a threat to journalists’ lives, stressing the importance of discretion and vigilance in their work.

Meanwhile, fresh details have emerged regarding the circumstances of Maduagwu’s death. According to Arise TV’s latest report, the robbery attack occurred around 3 a.m. on Monday. Relatives of the deceased claim her passing was worsened by delayed medical treatment, sparking further grief and concern.
