A Nigerian nurse identified as Ovansa Khadijat has been declared missing after she reportedly left Lagos for Aiyetoro, Ogun State, to attend to a private patient.
According to her sister, Joy, who confirmed the incident, Khadijat left their family home in Kogi State about two months ago to pursue better job opportunities in Lagos.
Joy explained that her sister had to quit her previous nursing job due to poor working conditions, alleging that her former employer made her work continuously for several days without rest.
A few days ago, Khadijat reportedly received a new offer to attend to a cancer patient in Aiyetoro, Ogun State. She was said to have boarded a cab from Mile 2, Lagos, to Aiyetoro but has not been seen or heard from since.
“She told me she was going to Aiyetoro to attend to a cancer patient. That was the last time we spoke,” Joy said.
“Her phone has been unreachable since she left, and we’ve not heard any news about her whereabouts.”
The family has since reported the case to the police, who have begun investigations into her disappearance.
Khadijat’s family and friends are pleading with the public for any information that could help locate her.
Anyone with useful information is urged to contact the nearest police station.
The incident has sparked fresh concerns about the safety of healthcare workers, especially those who travel for private home-care jobs in remote areas.
