A Nigerian man, Dayo Aderinto, has stirred widespread debate on social media after criticizing men who marry women based solely on physical appearance, particularly the size of their backside.
In a strongly worded Facebook post on Tuesday, Aderinto described such men as “idiots,” arguing that physical beauty without good character is a poor foundation for marriage. His remarks have since gone viral, sparking mixed reactions online.
According to Aderinto, many men have misplaced priorities when choosing life partners. He advised that good character and values should take precedence over looks, stressing that outer beauty fades but moral strength and compatibility sustain a home.
He wrote:
“So many men lack sense; you’re still choosing a wife based on big yansh. You’re an idi@t. Yansh can be a prerequisite, but you shouldn’t hesitate to let it go if it doesn’t come with good character.”
His post has drawn a flood of comments, with some agreeing with his message on prioritizing substance over appearance, while others criticized his choice of words, describing it as disrespectful and unnecessary.
The post quickly gained traction across Facebook and other platforms, with many users sharing personal opinions on the issue of physical attraction versus character in relationships. Some users praised Aderinto for speaking “hard truths,” while others argued that attraction is a natural part of romantic relationships and shouldn’t be dismissed entirely.
A relationship coach, reacting to the post, noted that while attraction matters, long-term relationships thrive more on mutual respect, communication, and shared values than on physical attributes.
