Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has opened up about a harrowing near-death experience that left her paralyzed and helpless inside her home one fateful night.
In an emotional interview on Ayo Adesanya TV, the screen legend shared how she suddenly collapsed while trying to fetch water in her living room — a moment she described as one of the darkest and most frightening experiences of her life.
“I wanted to go and get water in my living room,” she recalled. “The next thing I knew, I blanked out. When I woke up, I couldn’t stand. I tried to move but my body refused to respond. It was as if life was leaving me gradually.”
Alone and immobilized, Nwosu said she could only stare at the ceiling, questioning what was happening to her.
“I was lying there, wondering, ‘Is this how people die?’” she recounted, her voice heavy with emotion.
The actress revealed that the ordeal left her in shock and deep fear. Having battled health challenges in the past, she believed divine intervention played a major role in saving her life that night.
“I know it was God who gave me another chance,” she said tearfully. “Because I was gone. There was no strength left in me. But somehow, something inside me said, ‘You will not die like this.’”
Nwosu eventually regained enough strength to seek medical help, though her recovery took time and patience. She credited her survival to faith, medical care, and an unyielding determination to live.
“It took time, but I pulled through. It wasn’t easy at all, but I’m thankful I’m still here today to tell the story,” she said.
Following the revelation, fans and colleagues flooded social media with messages of relief and admiration, praising her courage and resilience.
The beloved actress, known for her iconic roles in Living in Bondage, Adamma, and Fuji House of Commotion, used the moment to advise her followers to prioritize their health and listen to their bodies.
“We often think we are strong until something like this happens,” she said. “Your body talks to you — listen to it. Go for check-ups. Rest when you need to. Life has no duplicate.”
Reflecting on how the experience changed her outlook on life, Nwosu shared that every new day now feels like a gift.
“When you face death and come back, you don’t see things the same way anymore,” she said softly. “Every morning I wake up now, I say, ‘Thank You, Lord, for one more day.’”
