A Nigerian woman has shared a touching story about her husband’s reaction after she accidentally stained their rug during her period.

Recalling the experience, she said the incident happened shortly after their wedding. Embarrassed and apologetic, she kept trying to clean up the mess herself — but her husband’s gentle response left her emotional.

She wrote:

“Something happened when I just got married. I sat on the rug in our room and the carpet got messy while I was on my period. I felt somehow and kept apologizing to my husband. I took a cloth and dipped it in water to clean it, but he told me not to worry — that he would handle it.”

According to her, he then ran warm water for her to take a bath and proceeded to clean the rug himself. When she asked if he wasn’t grossed out, his reply melted her heart:

“‘Ahn ahn. Grossed out as how? You’re my wife. If you didn’t use to menstruate, I wouldn’t have married you.’”

Reflecting on the moment, she urged women to marry kind and understanding men, adding humorously:

“Get you a kind man. All the ones wey una dey date na nonsense!”
