NBA superstar LeBron James has never shied away from speaking about his humble beginnings in Akron, Ohio, where he was raised by a single mother as an only child. Those early experiences, he says, shaped his deep appreciation for family — and his determination to never face life alone.
Recently, the four-time NBA champion opened up on the Everybody’s Crazy podcast — co-hosted by his wife, Savannah James — about the strength of their marriage and why he’s willing to do whatever it takes to preserve it.
“I know I don’t want to be alone, that’s for damn sure,” LeBron said. “If I got to fight, crawl, scratch, bite, whatever to keep mine, I got to keep it.”
Reflecting on his upbringing, he added, “I’m an only child, single-parent household. I knew for sure… when I got with ‘Vannah, I was like: ‘This is amazing. I love this. Next time I’m alone, I’ll be underneath.’”
LeBron, 40, and Savannah, 39, have been together since their high school days. The couple tied the knot in 2013 and share three children — Bronny (21), Bryce (18), and Zhuri (10).
Despite being married to one of the most recognized athletes in the world, Savannah James has consistently maintained a low profile. In a past interview with The Cut, she shared that her focus remains on motherhood and supporting her husband’s success, saying she simply enjoys being present for their children and family.
LeBron has frequently expressed his gratitude for Savannah’s strength and loyalty. In a heartfelt 2022 Instagram post, he wrote:
“Quick letter to my Queen — just letting you know that I appreciate you more than this world has to offer! Been my rock, holding this down from the very first jump ball! With all the BS that comes into our lives, you’ve never wavered. You’ve always been strong for me, us, and most importantly, YOU!”
He continued,
“Where would I be today without you? I think about it often, and the answer is always the same — not even close to where I am. This is my appreciation post to you, my Queen, because I’m simply letting you and the world know I ain’t nothing without you! All I need in this life of sin is me and my girlfriend, best friend, and wife. Love, King.”
With nearly two decades together, LeBron and Savannah’s relationship remains a rare and inspiring example of enduring love in the spotlight — built on loyalty, friendship, and a shared commitment to family.
