Reality star and SKIMS founder, Kim Kardashian, has opened up about the challenges of co-parenting with her ex-husband, Kanye West (Ye), revealing that the rapper often goes long periods without contacting their children.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast with host Alex Cooper, Kim admitted that Kanye hasn’t reached out to their four kids — North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm — in a while.
“Whenever he’ll call for them and ask… it’s probably been a couple of months since we’ve heard from him,” she shared.
The reality TV mogul, who finalized her divorce from Kanye in 2022 after seven years of marriage, said she’s doing her best to give their children a sense of stability.
“They love their life and their routine. My job as their mom is to make sure they stick to that routine and stay healthy and happy,” Kim explained.
Despite describing her co-parenting experience as “not easy,” Kim emphasized that she always allows her children to see their father whenever possible.
“Every time he asks, I will always let them see their father. If it becomes unhealthy, then I’ll suggest it happens at my home or at another time,” she said.
The 43-year-old entrepreneur also reflected on the toxic moments in her marriage, citing Kanye’s public outbursts and the emotional toll they took on her.
“There were things I couldn’t deal with — him talking badly about my family and sharing personal details publicly. I stopped feeling safe emotionally,” Kim revealed.
She recalled one particular incident where Kanye gave away five of his luxury cars without warning, describing the lack of stability as “unsettling.”
“You never knew what you were going to get when you woke up,” she said.
Ultimately, Kim said she chose to end the marriage for the sake of her mental health and her children’s well-being.
“Once my mental health started to get affected and I couldn’t parent the way I needed to, I had to save myself to be a better mom. When my kids are older, they’ll understand,” she concluded.
