Kim Kardashian has set the record straight after a fake interview surfaced online claiming her daughter, North West, said she would choose her father, Kanye West (Ye), over her mother “a thousand times.”
In a since-deleted Instagram post shared by update account CoolRap.TV, the page falsely claimed the 12-year-old made the statement. Kardashian quickly debunked the rumor, commenting on the post before it was removed.
“This interview never happened, and the quotes are fake,” Kardashian wrote. “North loves us both, and it's harmful and weird to pit a child against either parent for clicks.”
The SKIMS founder’s response comes amid ongoing public scrutiny of her co-parenting relationship with Ye, from whom she finalized her divorce in 2022.
While North never made such comments, Kardashian has previously shared that her daughter sometimes idealizes her father’s simpler lifestyle. In a 2023 episode of The Kardashians, she recalled North saying,
“Dad is the best! He has it all figured out. He doesn’t have a nanny, he doesn’t have a chef, he doesn’t have security, he lives in an apartment.”
North even questioned why her mother didn’t live in an apartment too, leaving Kardashian both amused and reflective.
During a recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Kardashian opened up about the emotional difficulties of co-parenting with Ye, especially when he makes public remarks involving their children or family.
“I don’t care what you say about me or your beliefs,” she said. “But anything about my children — that’s hard for me to sit back and ignore. It’s also hard when he says things about my mom, because she still loves him and gets emotional about it.”
Despite the challenges, Kardashian said she remains committed to speaking positively about Ye in front of their children. She shared a moment that surprised her when North told her:
“Mom, I think you go upstairs and cry at night. It’s OK. It’s time to move on. You need to have a boyfriend now.”
Kardashian responded with humor, clarifying,
“What? I cry? No, I’m getting a massage upstairs! What do you think is happening?”
The reality star concluded by emphasizing that, despite her struggles, she strives to keep her children’s perception of both parents positive.
