Iyabo Ojo Calls Out Impersonator Behind Facebook Page With 2.7 Million Followers

Iyabo Ojo

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo has raised alarm over an alleged impersonator operating a popular Facebook page using her name and image to mislead fans and profit from her brand.

In a video shared via her verified Instagram page, Ojo revealed that the page — which currently boasts over 2.7 million followers — has been posting content under her name, spreading misinformation, and monetizing traffic generated through her identity.

According to the actress, the impersonator initially created the account using her photos and name, giving fans the impression that the page was officially managed by her. When she attempted to report the page to Facebook, the individual renamed it “Iyabo Ojo Lovers,” making it appear like a legitimate fan page.

“This video is directed to whoever is impersonating me and using my name. It has 2.7 million followers on Facebook,” Ojo stated. “I have tried to report this account to Facebook. The person went and changed it to Iyabo Ojo Lovers, so at the time, Facebook thought it was my fan page. This is not my page. I don’t know who owns it.”

The actress expressed frustration over the situation, revealing that the impersonation had been ongoing for years but became more serious after she noticed fans attributing false posts to her.

“A lot of people think I own the page. That’s why I joined Facebook myself — to report pages like this,” she said.

Issuing a stern warning, Ojo demanded that the impersonator remove all references to her name and image immediately.

“Take my name off this page and my picture. Take it off. Because the next time you will look for this page, it will be gone. I’m not capping with you,” she warned.

She also criticized the impersonator for exploiting her fame to build a large following, urging them to create their own brand instead of profiting off hers.

“You’ve used my name to gather 2.7 million followers. If you know you want to be a blogger, don’t be greedy. Create your own identity now,” she added.

Ojo went on to highlight the growing problem of impersonation on social media, disclosing that numerous fake accounts have been created in her name across Facebook, TikTok, and other platforms.

“Everything I post on my page, you go and post on this page. You are definitely monitoring me,” she said, expressing concern over the impersonator’s close tracking of her activity.

The actress noted that the issue goes beyond fan confusion, as it involves illegal monetization and identity theft.

“Why are you using my name to be blogging? Making people feel like I’m a blogger. And it’s not funny anymore because you put my pictures there and blog, you carry different news. It’s madness,” Ojo said.

She concluded by warning others against similar behavior, stressing that such impersonation is deceptive, disrespectful, and potentially punishable.

“I know there are a lot of people impersonating me on Facebook, TikTok, everywhere. But this particular one has been verified and has a lot of followers. Every day I get messages from people asking if I wrote or posted something I never did,” she said.

Iyabo Ojo’s public outcry underscores the ongoing struggle celebrities face in protecting their digital identities and reputations online — a growing concern in an era where social media impersonation continues to rise.
