Heartbreak Turns Tragic: 22-Year-Old Hairdresser Commits Suicide After Finding Boyfriend With Another Woman in Enugu
A heartbreaking incident has left residents of Enugu in shock after a 22-year-old hairdresser, identified as Miss Odama Mary Agado, reportedly took her own life following the discovery that her boyfriend was with another woman.
Mary, who hailed from Woleche-Ipuole in Yahe Ward, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, was said to have ingested a poisonous substance suspected to be sniper on Friday evening after an emotional confrontation.
Sources close to the deceased revealed that Mary was a thriving hairstylist in Enugu and was well-known among her clients for her cheerful personality and dedication to her craft. She had recently bought a new car and even rented an apartment for her boyfriend, demonstrating her deep emotional and financial investment in the relationship.
However, tragedy struck when Mary reportedly visited the apartment she had rented for her partner, only to find him in the company of another woman.
“She became very angry and left for her own apartment. There, she called her mother and told her everything that happened. She also said her mother should take whatever happened in good faith that she wouldn’t live again,” said Daniel, a family source.
According to Daniel, Mary’s mother, who allegedly had no airtime to return the call, was unable to reach her daughter or raise an alarm. Hours later, she received a distressing call informing her that Mary had drunk sniper and was being rushed to the hospital.
Doctors reportedly made frantic efforts to save her life, but she was pronounced dead later that evening.
Her remains were immediately transported to her hometown in Yala, Cross River State, where she was laid to rest on Saturday.
“Immediately the body arrived, we dug a grave and buried her because she was too young to be kept for a customary burial ceremony,” Daniel recounted with sorrow.
The family did not report the case to the police, maintaining that Mary’s death was a suicide.
“We are at a loss as to why she should take such action over a boyfriend. Some people say she was spiritually manipulated, but whatever it was, no blame game will bring her back,” Daniel said.
