The family of Kayode Ogunleke, popularly known as Kbaba, a presenter with Ademimogo 107.7 FM in Ido-Ekiti, has raised serious concerns over the circumstances surrounding his sudden de@th, accusing both the police and the station’s management of providing conflicting and suspicious accounts.
Ogunleke, described by colleagues and fans as a vibrant broadcaster, reportedly passed away on Saturday, just hours after hosting his radio programme. His sudden demise has left listeners, co-workers, and relatives in shock.
According to SaharaReporters, Ogunleke’s brother revealed that the family first received a call from the station’s Managing Director, who informed them that the presenter had d!ed in an accident. The family immediately travelled from Lagos to Ekiti to confirm the news.
However, upon their arrival at the Ido Police Station, the narrative changed. Police officers reportedly told them that Ogunleke’s body had been found lying by the roadside and was rushed to a nearby clinic, where he was confirmed d3ad.
“The police said they found his corpse lying helpless on the road and took him to the clinic, where he was pronounced d3ad. That was different from what the MD initially told us,” his brother said.
The family said they insisted on viewing the body, only to discover that there were no visible injuries, cuts, or wounds that could explain his sudden passing.
“We checked his body thoroughly. There was no mark, no cut, nothing to suggest an accident. He was well and healthy the day he went to work,” the bereaved brother explained.
In their search for answers, the family demanded an autopsy. However, they claimed the police informed them that no facility in the state could handle such an examination, leaving the cause of de@th unresolved.
The family also accused the management of Ademimogo FM of withholding key information that could shed light on Ogunleke’s final hours.
They reportedly requested access to CCTV footage from the station, as well as recordings of his last programme to assess his state of mind and health on the day of his passing. Both requests, the family claimed, were denied.
“From all indications, it is clear that the police and the radio station are covering up some things,” Ogunleke’s brother said.
In a condolence statement signed by its Chief Operating Officer, Babatunde Bamigboye Omo Edema, Ademimogo Communications Limited described Ogunleke as “kind, open-minded, and very talented.”
“Kbaba loved his work and inspired both his teammates and listeners. Losing him so suddenly has been very painful for all of us,” the statement read. The company expressed sympathy for his family and requested privacy during the mourning period.
Despite this, Ogunleke’s family has rejected the explanations provided so far, insisting that only a proper investigation and independent autopsy will reveal the truth behind the mysterious de@th.
The incident has continued to spark debate in Ekiti and beyond, with many colleagues and listeners calling for clarity on what led to the untimely passing of the well-known broadcaster.
