Human rights activist Deji Adeyanju has weighed in on the controversy surrounding actress Regina Daniels and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, following reports of alleged domestic violence in their marriage.
In a post shared via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Adeyanju commented on the situation, suggesting that many women remain in toxic or abusive relationships due to financial dependence and material desires.
He wrote:
“Most poor and broke Nigerian girls with expensive taste have no option except tolerate shit from men. She will go back to him on her knees.”
Adeyanju’s remarks have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with his views while others criticized the perceived insensitivity of his statement amid the ongoing allegations.
His post came after several unconfirmed reports surfaced on Saturday alleging that Regina Daniels has been facing abuse from her husband and that the couple’s marriage may be going through a serious crisis.
As of the time of this report, neither Regina Daniels nor Senator Ned Nwoko has made any public statement addressing the allegations.
Meanwhile, fellow Nollywood actress Angela Okorie also reacted to the situation through an emotional post on Instagram. She condemned domestic violence in any form and urged women to prioritize their safety and well-being over societal expectations or material comfort.
Okorie wrote that many women suffer in silence due to fear, shame, or financial dependence, stressing that marriage should never feel like a prison.
“Love should never cause pain. Speak up. Don’t die in silence,” she advised.
