A senior officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Assistant Superintendent Lawal Tukur, has reportedly died in mysterious circumstances after spending the night with three women at Murjani Hotel in Katsina State, north-west Nigeria.
According to information released by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, October 15, when hotel staff discovered the officer’s lifeless body in his room around 8:30 a.m. and immediately raised the alarm.
Sources at the hotel said empty sachets of suspected substances were found in the waste basket of the room, suggesting that the officer might have consumed something before his death. However, authorities have not yet confirmed what the substances were.
Reports indicate that three women Khadija Ali (34) of Dutsin Amare Quarters, Aisha Lawal (30) of Ingawa Local Government Area, and Hafsat Yusuf (22) of Brigade Quarters, Kano were with the deceased at the hotel during the incident.
It was gathered that Khadija and Aisha spent the night with the officer, while Hafsat joined them later and also lodged in the same hotel. What transpired overnight remains unclear.
Following the discovery, the officer’s body was immediately taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Katsina, where a doctor confirmed him dead. His remains have since been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy, as investigations continue to determine the cause of death.
The Nigeria Customs Service has reportedly been informed of the development, though an official statement has yet to be released. Security operatives are said to be questioning the three women and hotel staff as part of ongoing investigations.
This unfortunate event has stirred shock within the Katsina community and among colleagues of the late officer, who was described as a calm and dedicated man.
