A Catholic priest has shared details of his final conversation with late Nigerian Army officer, Samson Haruna, whose tragic passing has sparked widespread sorrow and sympathy online.
It will be recalled that Samson Haruna died on October 7, 2025, following a domestic fire incident that occurred after an alleged argument with his wife, Rety, at their residence in Akwa Ibom State.
According to reports, Rety was initially arrested in connection with the incident but has since been released from custody as investigations continue.
In screenshots shared by the priest, Haruna had sent a heartfelt message expressing deep gratitude and admiration toward his spiritual mentor.
“Good afternoon my mentor, sir. Thank you for everything you have always done for me and my family, mentor sir. I will never take what you have done for me for granted, sir. God bless you and your lovely family richly always, in Jesus’ name,” Haruna wrote.
In response, the priest replied:
“Thank you so much for everything and your concern. God bless you endlessly 🙏🙏.”
The priest revealed that he decided to share the message as a way to honor Haruna’s memory, describing him as “a humble and grateful soul who always acknowledged kindness.”
As condolences continue to pour in, many Nigerians have taken to social media to express heartbreak over the young officer’s death, while calling for thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
