Big Brother Naija reality star, Phyna, has publicly accused the Dangote Group of negligence and insensitivity in handling the death and burial of her sister, Ruth Otabor.
In a series of Instagram posts, Phyna described her sister’s passing as not only tragic but “calculated and planned.” She alleged that despite public statements, Dangote Group failed to fully cover the medical and burial expenses.
According to her, the company only paid bills at Lagoon Hospital in Lagos, while her family bore the financial burden for additional medical costs from Auchi to Irrua.
“The bills from Auchi down to Irrua were covered by the family; no refund has been made,” she wrote.
Phyna further claimed that on the day of Ruth’s burial, September 13, all attempts to reach the company proved unsuccessful.
“On the day of burial, Dangote Group did not pick up calls made to them from us, as we were told the bills were not paid, but they claim it was,” she alleged.
The reality star also shared a letter purportedly from the company, sent to her father, asking him to sign an acknowledgment of receipt regarding burial expenses. She accused Dangote Group of impersonation, arguing that the family should have been consulted directly.
“This letter that was sent to my dad this evening is really paining me. @dangotegroup you killed my sister, did massive PR, gave the girl’s papa money for burial, then still by yourself wrote an acknowledgement letter impersonating my father and sent it to him to sign,” she wrote.
Phyna criticized the move as an attempt to control the narrative rather than treat her family with honesty and respect.
As of now, Dangote Group has not issued a public response to the allegation.
