Popular Nigerian actress and singer, Angela Okorie, has lent her voice to the ongoing national conversation on domestic violence, urging women to break the silence and protect themselves from abusive relationships.
In a heartfelt post shared on her Instagram page, the actress expressed concern over the emotional and physical pain many women endure behind closed doors, stressing that no form of abuse should ever be tolerated.
She wrote:
“Getting to know what a lot of our women go through — I mean the physical abuse, the pain, the silence. Domestic violence is never justified. No man has the right to raise his hands on a woman. Not in anger, not in love, not in marriage, NEVER ever!”
Angela further encouraged women to speak out rather than suffer in silence, emphasizing that silence only empowers abusers.
“Your silence protects your abuser, not you. Marriage is not a prison. Love is not meant to hurt,” she added.
The actress also called on society to use every available platform to raise awareness and fight against gender-based violence. She urged fans, families, and communities to protect women and demand dignity and respect for all.
Angela Okorie’s statement comes amid renewed public discourse surrounding domestic abuse in celebrity marriages, sparking important conversations about emotional and physical safety in relationships.
