Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia has denied reports claiming he was arrested in London following a heated altercation with his wife, Natasha Osawaru.
The rumor first surfaced on social media after gossip blogger Tosin Silverdam alleged that the singer was detained in the UK after an argument with Natasha turned violent. According to the claim, the couple had a disagreement in a taxi shortly after arriving at the airport, with Natasha allegedly breaking bottles during the confrontation.
Silverdam further suggested that the supposed arrest explained 2Baba’s absence from a scheduled UK tour event on October 2, leading some fans to abandon the concert.
In response, 2Baba issued a public statement dismissing the rumors as false. Appearing in a video alongside Natasha and close associates, the 50-year-old singer clarified that his absence from the UK show was due to a medical emergency, not a police incident.
“I was never arrested,” 2Baba stated, stressing that the reports circulating online were misleading and damaging. He also criticized bloggers for spreading unverified claims about his personal life.
The controversy comes just weeks after 2Baba celebrated his 50th birthday on September 18, during which Natasha Deputy Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly publicly penned a heartfelt tribute, describing him as “the anthem of love, the melody of hope.”
The couple traditionally tied the knot on July 25, 2025, months after 2Baba confirmed his separation from actress Annie Macaulay in January. The pair are currently expecting their first child together.
The rumors of arrest quickly sparked debate online, with fans divided between concern and skepticism. Supporters praised the singer for directly addressing the issue, while critics urged caution against the spread of unverified stories.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from UK authorities regarding any arrest.
