Tragedy as Man Dies After Attempting to Lift Four Bags of Cement

What began as a playful dare among friends has ended in heartbreak, after a young man identified as Gbenga lost his life attempting to lift four bags of cement in a bet.

The incident occurred last Saturday when Gbenga and his friends challenged each other to carry multiple 50kg cement bags. The prize: their mobile phones. Together, the load weighed 200kg nearly three times the average body weight.

Fueled by ego and adrenaline, Gbenga stepped forward to take on the challenge. A viral video shows him successfully hoisting the bags, but seconds later he collapsed. Witnesses say his body could not withstand the strain, reportedly damaging his spine and nerves.

Despite desperate efforts by his friends to revive him, Gbenga’s condition worsened. By Wednesday, he tragically passed away, leaving his family and community in mourning.
