The Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) community has been plunged into grief following the untimely death of Aisha Umar Jaja, a 200-level Chemistry student.
Aisha reportedly passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, shortly after giving birth to a set of twins. Her sudden death has left fellow students, staff, and family members heartbroken.
Her funeral prayer (Janazah) was held the following day, Tuesday, September 23, in Sokoto, where relatives, friends, and members of the university community gathered to pay their last respects.
The UDUS Alumni Association confirmed the sad development in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. It is on a sad note, we announce the passing of our dear sister Aisha Jaja, a 200-level Chemistry student. She returned to her Lord shortly after being blessed with twin babies. We pray that Allah (SWT) forgives her shortcomings, grants her Jannatul Firdaus, and showers His mercy upon her. May He protect and bless the twin babies, and give the family and all of us the strength to bear this painful loss.”
Students and staff have described Aisha as a bright, humble, and God-fearing young woman whose life was cut short just as she embraced motherhood.
Her passing has once again drawn attention to the risks surrounding childbirth, especially among young mothers, while also sparking prayers and messages of support for her newborn twins.
