In a disturbing case of greed and betrayal, Mumbai Police have arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly plotting the brutal murder of his own father over a financial dispute.
The victim, Mohammad Syed (70), was a well-known businessman who ran a metal factory in Charkop, Kandivali, along with a glass factory. On Sunday morning, Syed went to his factory as usual, but just hours later, he was found dead inside the premises with multiple stab wounds.
Police investigations revealed that two men had entered the factory earlier that morning and remained inside for nearly an hour before launching a fatal knife attack. After committing the crime, they tried to cover their tracks by dumping the weapon in a water tank on the premises.
Acting swiftly, a special team from Zone 11 tracked down one of the attackers, Mohammad Islam (26), in Navi Mumbai. During interrogation, Islam confessed to the killing and made a shocking revelation — the murder had been ordered by none other than Syed’s elder son, Hameed Syed (41), along with his close friend and business partner, Shanu Chaudhary (40).
According to police, the motive behind the crime was a long-standing business dispute. Chaudhary had invested nearly ₹1 crore in Syed’s glass factory in partnership with Hameed. However, Syed allegedly refused to share the profits and even attempted to sell the premises. To settle scores, Hameed and Chaudhary allegedly hired contract killers and paid ₹6.5 lakh for the murder.
The Charkop Police have arrested Hameed, Chaudhary, and Islam, while a second hired killer remains on the run. The accused are set to be produced in court on Tuesday as investigations continue.
