The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested Samuel Amoah, popularly known as Biggie, in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, Alberta Armah Hagan, and her two daughters at Tuba Net-Link Estates, a suburb of Kasoa in the Central Region.
Amoah was arrested on September 17, 2025, at Suhum in the Eastern Region, after more than a year on the run.
Addressing the media in Accra over the weekend, the Director-General of the CID, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, said the crime occurred on May 19, 2024, when police responded to a distress call about a violent attack in a residence.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 39-year-old Alberta Hagan and her two daughters in their bedroom, lying in a pool of blood. A third child was found alive but severely injured with deep head cuts and bleeding from the ear, while a five-month-old baby was located unharmed on a sofa in the living room.
The injured child was rushed to the hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. Postmortem examinations later confirmed that the victims died from severe head injuries inflicted during the assault.
Police investigations identified Amoah, who was in a romantic relationship with Ms. Hagan, as the prime suspect. According to COP Donkor, their relationship had deteriorated over financial disputes, which culminated in the fatal attack.
“In a fit of rage, the suspect attacked Alberta and the two children who witnessed the incident,” COP Donkor disclosed.
Amoah fled the scene and evaded arrest for more than a year. However, after sustained intelligence-led operations, he was eventually captured on September 17. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the killings and expressed remorse.
He is currently in custody, assisting with investigations, and will soon be charged with multiple counts, including murder.
COP Donkor assured the public that the case is being handled with urgency and professionalism to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
The late Alberta Hagan and her two daughters were buried on June 22, 2024.
