Nollywood actress Lucy Donald has opened up about her rise to fame, dispelling long-standing assumptions that her glamorous lifestyle is bankrolled by a wealthy benefactor.
“Most people think I’ve got one secret rich sugar uncle bankrolling my soft life,” Lucy said. “But let me shock you: acting is my main hustle.”
The actress, who started her career with little financial reward, recalled her early struggles. “I would rehearse, shoot for 12 hours, and go home with just ₦2000 (about $2.50) or sometimes only a ‘thank you for coming.’ I soaked garri, but I held on,” she revealed.
Today, Lucy has grown into one of Nollywood’s most sought-after faces. Her relentless work ethic—often beginning her day at 4 a.m. and working across multiple locations—has paid off. “This hustle feeds me, clothes me, pays my bills, and bought me a house and a car,” she said.
She noted that while acting now sustains her lifestyle, the journey has been anything but easy. “The same acting pays bills, but trust me, it doesn’t come cheap,” she added.
Lucy’s story is a testament to resilience, hard work, and faith. She credits her success to determination and prayer, encouraging aspiring actors to stay committed despite challenges. “When you see me shining, know that I paid with sweat, tired eyes, and prayer,” she concluded.
