Nigerian singer Kizz Daniel has dismissed online rumours alleging that a court froze his bank accounts over a breached performance contract tied to the Afrobeats Meets Berlin concert in 2022.
The rumours suggested that the singer failed to honour his agreement to perform at the Berlin event in September 2022 after receiving part payment.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, however, Kizz Daniel’s management described the reports as “false, misleading, and defamatory,” insisting that the fault lay with the event’s promoter, Kejuro Media & Entertainment.
The team explained that while there was a duly signed agreement for Kizz Daniel to headline the show, the promoter failed to meet basic obligations such as securing visas and flights for the artiste and his team, ultimately leading to the concert’s cancellation.
“It has come to our attention that a false and malicious narrative is being circulated with the sole aim of discrediting our artiste, Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, professionally known as Kizz Daniel, and undermining his forthcoming Europe Tour,” the statement read.
The management said the promoter later attempted to reschedule the event to April 2023, but Kizz Daniel’s camp insisted any new date would require fresh commercial terms, with no refund of the original deposit—terms that were never finalized.
They further cast doubt on the promoter’s credibility, pointing out that other contracted stars such as Teni and Diamond Platnumz also never performed at the festival, and that all social media pages linked to Afrobeats Meets Berlin have since disappeared.
The team also accused the promoter of launching a “malicious campaign” to sabotage Kizz Daniel’s upcoming Europe tour by sending false claims of a court judgment to new tour partners.
“Even if such a claim existed, it would only reveal the promoter’s desperate and malicious attempt to malign and cripple our business reputation,” they stated, challenging the promoter to provide proof of visas and flights for the original September 2022 date.
Kizz Daniel’s management warned blogs and media outlets against amplifying the rumours, stressing that their legal team is reviewing defamatory publications and may pursue legal action.
Despite the controversy, they assured fans that preparations for Kizz Daniel’s Europe tour remain on track.
