A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, Hon. Ejeh Udeh, has been assassinated by unknown gunmen at his residence.
The attack happened around 12:00 a.m. on Monday at Udeh’s home in Ugboju. Eyewitnesses said the assailants, who arrived on a motorcycle, laid in wait for him before striking. As soon as he entered his house, the gunmen reportedly surrounded him and opened fire, killing him on the spot in front of his family members.
His remains have since been taken to the Otukpo General Hospital morgue.
The late Udeh was a prominent APC figure in the area and was said to have played an active role in mobilising support for the party during recent elections. His sudden death has thrown the community into mourning, with residents expressing fear and concern about rising insecurity in Benue State.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the killing, but local sources say security operatives are expected to launch an investigation into the incident. The motive behind the assassination remains unclear.
