A Katsina businessman has been left disfigured after he was attacked by suspected phone snatchers late Sunday night, September 21.
The victim, identified as Marwan Usman, was assaulted at his workplace along IBB Road, near Kaura Gate, close to the MTN office.
According to Marwan, the incident occurred while he was refilling his generator to continue his night business operations. The assailants approached and demanded his mobile phone. When he refused to hand it over, the attackers turned violent.
Armed with machetes, the hoodlums inflicted multiple deep cuts on him before fleeing the scene. Despite the severity of the attack, the suspects reportedly failed to steal his phone.
Marwan was left with serious injuries and visible disfigurement from the assault. The attack highlights growing concerns about violent crimes linked to phone snatching in Katsina and other parts of northern Nigeria.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any arrests have been made in connection to the case.
