Renowned activist, Aisha Yesufu, has said that the war against Boko Haram and other terrorist groups ravaging northern Nigeria will only come to an end when the country has a true Commander-in-Chief.
Yesufu made this statement in a post on X (formerly Twitter), while reacting to a viral video showing Boko Haram fighters on the move, reportedly captured by Army surveillance equipment.
She wrote:
“The day Nigeria gets a Commander-in-Chief, the war against Boko Haram and the other terrorists will be properly tackled! Until then, the terrorists will continue to mock us, it is well.”
Her reaction followed a report alleging that the Nigerian Army’s surveillance room recorded Boko Haram insurgents invading a military base in Borno State, but failed to alert soldiers on ground.
Yesufu, who has consistently criticised government handling of insecurity, suggested that Nigeria’s leadership has not shown the decisive will needed to crush insurgency. She maintained that terrorists have continued to thrive largely because of lapses in the chain of command and poor accountability from those entrusted with the nation’s security.
