Bandits have abducted a local businessman, Suleiman Ndana, during a midnight raid on Tsaragi community, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The gunmen reportedly stormed the area around midnight, targeting Ndana, who recently built a new fuel station in Yana Kokonna, Tsaragi. Residents said the attackers operated for several minutes before whisking him away to an unknown destination, leaving the community in fear and uncertainty.
This incident adds to rising insecurity in Edu Local Government. Just last Friday, two brothers were attacked on their farmland in Lema community. One was killed on the spot while the other sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Nigerian Army announced that its troops intercepted and neutralised a suspected arms courier along the Share–Gbugbu Road in Edu LGA. Acting on intelligence, soldiers of the 22 Armoured Brigade under Operation Park Strike V stopped a Volkswagen Golf carrying a large cache of rifles hidden in a charcoal sack.
The suspect, tracked from Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, was killed when he attempted to escape. Troops recovered five AK-47 rifles and three magazines from the vehicle.
