20-Year-Old Man Dies by Suicide at Agogo

A tragic incident has rocked the community of Agogo in the Asante Akim North Municipality, Ashanti Region, after a 20-year-old man was found dead by hanging.

The heartbreaking event occurred on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at around 3:00 p.m., in Obuasi, a suburb of Agogo.

According to reports, the young man had returned home from church earlier in the day with his girlfriend. After sharing a meal together, the couple decided to rest. However, when the girlfriend later woke up, she was met with a devastating scene her partner hanging from the ceiling.

Shocked and distressed, she immediately raised an alarm, drawing the attention of neighbors who quickly contacted authorities. Personnel from the Agogo Police Service and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) arrived at the residence at approximately 7:00 p.m. to secure the scene.

The body was subsequently removed and transported to the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy. Investigators are expected to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the young man’s death.

Meanwhile, police have launched an inquiry into the incident. Although no foul play has been confirmed at this stage, officers say they will be speaking to close associates, including the deceased’s girlfriend, relatives, and friends, to better understand the situation.
